Clarios and Altris Advance Sodium-Ion Batteries for 12-Volt Automotive Applications
Molindo portfolio company Altris has strengthened its strategic partnership with Clarios to accelerate the development of sodium-ion 12-volt car batteries. The collaboration includes joint development activities and preparations for serial production before the end of the decade.
As part of the program, prototype cells will be assembled with InoBat in Slovakia at a pilot facility with an annual capacity of up to 50,000 cells. The batteries demonstrate strong cold-start performance, making them well suited for automotive use.
“This partnership is an important milestone in bringing sodium-ion technology closer to large-scale production,” says Christer Bergquist, CEO of Altris.
The initiative supports a localized European supply chain and a more sustainable battery solution based on abundant raw materials.
